Quiet Meter

Sound level meter, pay once.

Coming soon to the App Store.

What it is

Quiet Meter shows you how loud it is. You buy it once, and that is the end of the transaction. Every other decibel meter on the store is free to download and then asks for forty or fifty dollars a year; Quiet Meter has no subscription, no ads, no account and no analytics, and it makes no network requests at all because there is nowhere for it to call.

It is also honest about accuracy: an iPhone microphone is designed for speech, not measurement, so Quiet Meter converts the microphone level into an estimated dB SPL — an estimate, not a measurement, and not suitable for any official, workplace or legal purpose. Because most decibel apps read far too high in a silent room, the calibration screen lets you set an offset from -20 to +20 dB in half-decibel steps against a meter you trust, and it stays set, correcting the whole session together. Free forever: a live reading in large numerals, session minimum, average and maximum, a rolling 45-second chart coloured by level, the full calibration screen, and a reference table.

The rules it ships under

No subscription. No account. No analytics. Your data stays in the app's own storage on your iPhone, and deleting the app deletes it. Where there is a price, it is a single App Store purchase.

Privacy

No accounts, no analytics, and nothing about you sent to a server of ours. The details, including how advertising and purchases work, are written out in full.
